Terms of use

EXPERIMENT helps you turn a vague impulse into a self-directed experiment you can actually run: a question, a way to notice, a period of logging, and an honest read at the end. Some of what you see — the Designer's suggestions, the Consent & Risk Gate, your reports — is generated by an AI model and is labelled as such. It can be wrong, and it is not a judgement on you.

You must be 18 or over to hold an account.

Nothing in EXPERIMENT is medical, psychological, nutritional or clinical advice, and nothing here diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition. The app does not know your medical history. An experiment you design here is something you choose to do to yourself, at your own risk and on your own judgement.

Talk to a doctor before running anything involving fasting or restricted eating, supplements or substances, significant changes to exercise or sleep, or any change to prescribed medication. Do not use this app to run experiments on anyone else. If you have a history of disordered eating, are pregnant, or are managing a cardiac, metabolic, or psychiatric condition, please take specific advice first.

The Consent & Risk Gate exists for exactly this reason. Read it rather than holding the button down.

A single-person result is a single-person result. Personal findings don't generalise, and the app says so throughout.

What you write stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, process it to produce your reports (including sending it to our AI provider, as described in the privacy policy), and — for the specific items you choose to publish — to display them to other users, anonymously if you pick that. Withdraw a published insight and that permission ends.

You're responsible for what you post publicly: that you have the right to post it, and that it doesn't expose someone else's private information.

Published insights, profiles and reactions must not contain:

• 01Harassment, abuse, hatred or threats directed at any person or group.
• 02Content encouraging self-harm, suicide, disordered eating, or dangerous restriction — including experiments framed as those things.
• 03Sexual content, or anything sexualising a minor.
• 04Medical claims presented as fact, or protocols promising to cure, treat or prevent illness.
• 05Someone else's private information, or content you don't have the right to post.
• 06Spam, scams, or promotion dressed as a personal insight.

Published text is screened before it reaches the Feed, and you can report anything that gets through — the ⋯ menu on any insight or profile, or hello@experimentmag.com for anything urgent or anything an AI feature produced that it shouldn't have. Reports are read by a person, normally within 24 hours; an insight several people report leaves the Feed straight away and waits for that review. Content that breaches these rules is removed, and accounts that do so repeatedly are closed.

You can also block someone from the same menu, including on an anonymous insight — you stop seeing each other in the Feed, they aren't told, and you can lift it under You. None of this screening touches your private check-ins: what you write in your own log is never filtered, only what you choose to publish.

Some features may be offered as paid extras. Where a purchase is made inside a mobile app, it's handled by that platform's store, and the store's own refund and cancellation rules apply — the price, renewal terms and how to cancel are shown before you pay. Free features stay free.

You can stop at any time and delete your account from inside the app — here. We may suspend or close an account that breaks the rules above or uses the service unlawfully.

The service is provided as it is, without warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the outcome of any experiment you choose to run on yourself. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your rights as a consumer.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If we change them materially, you'll be told in the app before the change takes effect.
